The Brother Islands

The Brother Islands, 60 miles off El Quesir, are part of the Marine Park Islands National Park and offer spectacular wall diving. Covered in soft corals and gorgonians, they attract diverse marine life, including tuna, barracudas, jacks, snappers, and sharks like hammerheads, silky, oceanic white tips, and the rare thresher. Grey reef sharks are common on Small Brother’s plateaus. Wreck divers can explore the Aida II and Numidia on Big Brother, both rich in coral and marine life. The trip ends with dives at Panorama Reef or the Salem Express near Safaga before returning to Hurghada.

Daedalus Reef

Daedalus Reef (Abu Kizan) is a remote, 400m x 100m standalone reef in the Egyptian Red Sea, about 90 km from Marsa Alam. It features deep walls, pristine coral formations, and is a prime diving spot with frequent sightings of hammerhead and grey reef sharks. The reef hosts a 30m lighthouse, built in 1863 and rebuilt in 1931, which remains active with a 2+1 flashing pattern every 30 seconds. Accessible only by boat, it also serves as a station for the Egyptian coast guard and Navy.

Elphinstone

Elphinstone Reef, also known as Sha’ab Abu Hamra, is an isolated reef located in the Egyptian Red Sea, about 30 kilometers north of Marsa Alam. This reef is distinguished by its rich biodiversity, with soft corals, particularly Dendronephthya species, dominating the landscape. Elphinstone is a prime destination for diving enthusiasts, featuring steep walls covered in soft corals, creating an ideal environment for observing Grey Reef Sharks patrolling the plateaus. Additionally, Oceanic White Tip Sharks can often be spotted in the area throughout most of the year.
